TRANSCRIPT:

Hello beloveds,

This is the shorter version of the Examen.

I'll just prompt you with the prompts. So start by getting in the presence of God. Take a few deep breaths, breathe and get in his presence.

We'll begin by giving thanks. Big or small, give thanks to God.

Then review the past day, the past week or whatever it is that comes up for you from God. look back on the things that happened

and think about how you felt about them. Reflect, listen to your thoughts from God, think of the way that you felt at each point.

Ask when did you feel connected to God, when did you feel consoled by his presence, or by yourself showing his love?

Now think about when you felt disconnected from his love. When did you feel distant and desolate?

Now think about places or times or events where mending is needed. Do you need to make amends, say sorry for something that you did? Or do you see places of brokenness? Ask God for help with mending those places.

Then look ahead. Where do you want to set some intentions or next steps? Think with God about what you want to do to prepare yourself or set steps to take to prepare for what's coming up.

And finally, end the Examen by giving thanks. Again, it could be small or big. End with a note of gratitude.

….

And now we'll say the Lord's Prayer.

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.

Lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Amen.
