You place the flowers in the vase that you bought today-ay-ay.

On one of our road trips, Randy and I listened to a Spotify playlist that included “Our House” by Crosby Stills, Nash & Young. The playlist was all songs from the ‘70’s—“my decade”— the years I was in high school and college. So I could sing along with almost all we heard. (I’m sure Randy was thrilled about that.)

I love it when you sing one word or syllable with several notes. The last words of “Our House” has one example:

I'll light the fire

While you place the flowers

In the vase

That you bought today

On that last syllable, they sing “today-ay-ay.” Three notes. Another example is “Psalm 46” by Bifrost Arts, a big favorite of mine. At the end, Chelsey Scott repeats that beautiful verse, “Be still and know that I am God.” In one of the repeats, she sings, “know-oh-oh.” I love that lingering “know-oh-oh.”

I just wanted to share that little thing I delight in, and, at the same time, remind you that God loves you.

How about you? Do you have some favorite songs with multi-note-one-syllable words? Or some other little delight?
