I just thought that was a fun title -- we only split up in the literal sense. Today Carol went to Versailles and the Museum d'Orsay, Susan to a house museum she had found, and Barb and I went to the Rodin museum, Shakespeare & Company, and back to Rue Mouffetard where most of the shops we visited for "Paris by Mouth" were located.
At the Rodin museum, we only had time to see what was in the building or in the gardens, not both. We went through the building and saw just a small part of the gardens. The sculptures were fascinating. How much work he did to get all those details. The robes and clothing look like he actually draped them on the figures. And the expressions on people's faces. In one display we were looking at some clay studies he did before the sculptures. It's incredible to think Rodin's fingers put that clump of clay there above the eyebrow and smoothed it out. Also amazing to think it was in the early 1900's, not really that terribly long ago.

After the museum we took the Metro to a stop fairly near
Shakespeare & Company. Bookstores! I could have stayed much longer. I bought a book for me, for Ran, and one for Delaney. A "Poet for Hire" set up on a bench in front with an old fashioned portable typewriter. You give him a word or a topic, he will write a poem in about 10 minutes, then you pay him what you think it's worth. I gave him "The Joy of Reading."

After that, back to the joy of eating. Ha. We went to Mococcha and saw Marie again, the owner. We reminded her we had been there yesterday with Emma and she said, "Yesterday? I thought it was this morning." I get the feeling time is going fast for her. We bought 4 boxes of the chocolate bubbles so each of us can bring one home.
We stopped at a clothes store and found some cute tops and scarves. Then we passed this charcuterie shop where they roast chicken on spits over a bunch of cooked potatoes, so the juices drip onto the potatoes. We'd thought they looked so delicious yesterday that Barb bought them for today's dinner. Since we were loaded down with bags, we took Uber back to the apartment.
Barb bought some fresh vegetables and made us a wonderful dinner with sauteed vegetables, the potatoes and chicken we'd bought. And wine, of course. We had a Fat Tire bike ride and river tour booked afterward but I just really did not feel like running out and running around again. I stayed home and the other 3 left.
After cleaning up dinner I went down the road for eggs for tomorrow's breakfast and also bought a cup of tea from across the street. I had that while eating my half of the chocolate eclair Barb had bought us yesterday. Yum. And sigh, so nice to have a quiet night on my own.
Barb, Carol, and Susan said the bike and river ride were both very fun and I would have enjoyed them. I'm sure they're right but I don't regret my quiet evening at home.
