Persuasion by Jane Austen
I am reading Persuasion. I am not sure if I am re-reading it or not. I may actually never have read it before, or if I did it was too long ago to remember. I have enjoyed the movie many, many times, as has my husband Randy. For some reason it was his "default" movie for a long time. He'd often put it on before going to sleep. He likes all the recent Jane Austen movies, actually.
Anyway, I've just started. There was a short biography of Jane Austen at the beginning. She was an amazing woman. So much in such a short life. And she seems to have been a devout, good person.
"They must retrench. That did not admit of a doubt." Retrench. I've never heard of that word except in Persuasion. I like it. With me on reduced hours and Randy having a 5% pay cut, we must retrench.
